ES-3100 Model

Description

A computational model for representative Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactor (SFR) fuel placed within the Y-12 ES-3100 package.

Executive Summary

This model was developed for transporting HALEU fuel and analyzing nuclear criticality by using validated models from the ICSBEP to assess the similarity index of the developed model.

Details

The ES-3100 transportation package was modeled with SCALE and sensitivity profiles were generated by TSUNAMI.

The major references used to develop the provided models are the following:

Notes:

  • Assumed no structural material apart from inner and outer containment
  • Assumed no borated cement as absorbing material
  • Modified SS304L to SS304. Removes 0.03 wt% Sulfur

Testing

The model has been reviewed and run with SCALE 6.3.1, yielding sensitivity profiles needed for validation of the model.
