Re #27028 Prevent enum internals being exposed in SANS GUI

The SampleShape enum wasn't being converted to/from a string by the
view, so a user couldn't enter 'disc'. Add a step to the view which
converts it to the enum, since the enum handles the errors for us
anyway.
