CNMS Computing Resources

Computing resources are limited and valuable. You should be available by Slack and your ORNL email while jobs are running. Jobs deemed to be abusive or causing disruption of collective resources will be killed without notice if you are unresponsive.

User's outside of ORNL network

Email doakpw@ornl.gov if you need assistance in using these resources.

Clusters

CADES -- New Cluster

Outside Resources

Super Computing Centers

OLCF -- OLCF (TITAN,EOS,ETC)

NERSC -- DOE's general use super computing center

Utilties

Monitoring Codes -- ⭐ Realtime data collection from codes

How to survive in HPC and computational Science -- Basics as of 2018

Git

  • Quick Tutorial Start
  • In Some Detail

Editors

  • EMACS

PBS/MOAB (This is the queuing system on CADES and OIC)

  • PBS basics, note some specifics are different on CADES and OIC Note that website is for a cray with moab so they use aprun instead of mpirun. But otherwise this is much more complete than the cades wiki.

Tips

Computing at ORNL -- emphasis on what to do if you are offsite

PBS Tricks -- Job Chaining, etc.

OSX -- How to use a OSX machine for Scientific Computation (IOHO)
